2019 Robert B. Mellins, MD Outstanding Achievement Awardee

In 2013, the ATS Foundation and the ATS Assembly on Pediatrics established the Robert B. Mellins, MD, Outstanding Achievement Endowed Award honoring Dr. Mellins’ legacy as a founder of pediatric pulmonology. The Mellins Award recognizes the scholarship and research achievement of an instructor, assistant professor, or early associate professor in the pediatric pulmonology field. Gustavo Nino, MD, is an Assistant Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, with joint appointment in the Departments of Pediatrics and Integrated Systems Biology. He is an attending physician in the Division of Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine and Director of Sleep Medicine at Children’s National Medical Center. He has a broad research background in airway biology and the phenotypical characterization of asthma and obstructive sleep apnea in children.
