Let's Conquer Respiratory Diseases

Monica Goldklang

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

You play a critical role in advancing the futures of young researchers, respiratory science, and patient care.

Can we count on you to make your best possible gift to the ATS Foundation today?

Your gift today will help raise $850,000 for young investigator research grants before Dec. 31.

I’d like to share with you the story of Monica Goldklang, MD, a 2014 ATS Foundation Research Program Awardee studying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. With the protected time provided by her Research Program Award, Dr. Goldklang strengthened her NIH application and successfully competed for her K08 Mentored Career Development Award. She is now in the second year of her NIH grant.

What you do matters. For researchers, patients, and their families.

Vijai Sharma

Scientific discovery in COPD has benefited patients like Vijai Sharma.

In the 22 years he has lived with COPD, Vijai has seen a major shift in how the disease is viewed. “Science has removed the shackles that come with viewing COPD as a completely irreversible, progressive, and horrible disease,” he says.

ATS Foundation Research Program awards keep promising early-career investigators like Dr. Monica Goldklang in the field, exploring such diverse topics as lung cancer, asthma, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, COPD, sleep apnea, and more.

Without these investigators—without you—groundbreaking research and patient care will suffer.

Let’s build a future where we conquer respiratory diseases. Together, we can raise $850,000 for young investigator research grants before Dec. 31.

Thank you for your caring, compassion, and support.

Sincerely,

Dean Schraufnagel, MD
ATS Foundation Chair
